Woraksan (월악산) National Park

2026-05-30

Woraksan National Park is one of Korea’s most scenic mountain parks, located in the heart of the country between Chungcheongbuk-do and Gyeongsangbuk-do Provinces. Established in 1984, the park is renowned for its dramatic granite peaks, forested ridges, deep valleys, and rich cultural heritage.

The park’s centerpiece is Yeongbong Peak (1,097 m), the highest summit of Mount Worak, offering spectacular panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and Chungju Lake. Well-maintained trails lead hikers through rugged ridgelines, rocky outcrops, dense forests, and historic temples.

Compared with Korea’s more crowded national parks, Woraksan offers a quieter and more relaxed hiking experience while still providing challenging mountain terrain and breathtaking scenery. Whether you are seeking a leisurely nature walk, a day hike to Yeongbong Peak, or an immersive mountain adventure, Woraksan National Park showcases the natural beauty and cultural richness of central Korea.
