Dr K

Today started with a heat wave.

A heat advisory had even been issued.

So... did I stay home?

Of course not.

Fight heat with heat!

I climbed Jokduribong first.

The view beneath my feet was spectacular.

After squeezing over the hot granite rocks,

I reached Bibong.

The panoramic view was still worth every step.

But by then...

I was completely soaked.

I could actually feel sweat running down my back.

That's when I found it...

A tiny pool in a mountain stream.

Before I even realized it...

Both of my feet were in the water.

It was ice cold.

The chill shot all the way to my head.

It felt...

absolutely wonderful.

The Korean Buddhist monk Ven. PomnyunSunim, whom I deeply admire, once said,

"Spiritual practice is finding reasons to be happy in any situation."

Well...

this hike took care of the practice for me.

At this rate...

I'm only a few mountain streams away from nirvana.
